Workshop

Seeing red...but which red? There are so many to choose from.

Today was day one of a two-day workshop AANC is hosting with our judge, Don Sahli.   Don is an amazing oil painter and colorist, having studied under Sergei Bongart, whose artistic lineage can be directly traced to Ilya Efimovich Repin (widely regarded as one of the finest master painters of 19th century Russia.)

There was soooo much to learn; color is a rather difficult subject for me, as there are certain hues that I cannot see very well -- especially reds and greens.  When I have time, I hope to write a blog entry about how I perceive color, and how my colorblindness both helps and hinders my path as an artist.

Laura,
I’m sure it is one great experience to attend this workshop! The picture you have posted is so brilliant!
You have mentioned about difficulty in perceiving hues, I felt really sorry (at the same time glad that it helps you!).
Although I’m curious and would like to understand it better from your post about it …whenever.
Best wishes!
