Snowy Wood

Today was a snowy, sleepy sort of day, so I painted a scene to reflect this.

How does one apply snow in watercolor? I experimented with several options in this piece, but in the end applied watercolor's more opaque and reliable cousin, gouache, with a toothbrush:

Lovely. Isn't it comforting to know that a good ol' toothbrush spatter is still such a perfect solution?

That painting is lovely! I think I'll add a toothbrush in my brush pot.
